Murphy's Law

Could things get any worse for Labour in Scotland? That's the question the party are asking following a new opinion poll showing the party is on course to lose every one of its MPs north of the border. The poll is hugely worrying for Jim Murphy, whose own satisfaction ratings are now below those of both his Conservative and Liberal Democrat counterparts. It has led today to talk of him being forced to stand down immediately after the election.

But while all eyes are on the possible impact of what's happening in Scotland, a hung parliament arguably poses far bigger questions about the impact of politics in Northern Ireland. Could a deal between the Conservatives or Labour and unionist parties put the future of the peace process at stake?

And with all the talk about possible post-election deals, are the real issues of this election being obscured? To help you work out what each party really stands for we have a simple guide to how the main political parties' stand on all the big issues of the day.
