Another day, another manifesto launch. Or two. The Tories released their document today, with a so-so speech from David Cameron. Inside, there was a significant change of direction. Gone were the personal attacks on Ed Miliband and the tedious nature of the campaign thus far. Instead, the Tories offered positive proposals on Right to Buy, childcare and more. These proposals are problematic in themselves but they did suggest that HQ realised things were wrong and and that they needed appeal to working class voters. In a matter of days a core-vote campaign has switched to a clothes-swap campaign. Over at the Green party launch, Natalie Bennett unveiled an impressive, fully costed and professional document, although there were a few bits and bobs in there, especially on GM foods and animal rights, which might alienate some voters. | |
