Labour takes one step forward and two steps back

Ed Miliband's announcement today that a Labour government would abolish the non-dom tax status is good policy and good politics. It draws a clear line both with the Conservatives and the last Labour government and will be difficult for the Tories to oppose. However despite this gain, Labour's Scottish collapse continues to be the main drag on their chances of forming the next government. Could Murphy's suggestion during the Scottish leaders' debate last night, that only the largest party can form the next government, finish Miliband's hopes of becoming the next prime minister?
