"One person's religion is another person's cult." - Phillip Seymour Hoffman

The weekend is almost here and we've selected our five most-read pieces of the week for you to enjoy.

Here's what we have for you today:

  • A piece which asked why the Telegraph is giving a platform to dictators.
  • A report from last week that a Tory MP said the SNP 'need to be on their planes back' to Scotland.
  • A piece which looked at the House of Lords vote on cuts to tax credits.
  • Our verdict on this week's PMQs.
  • And our most-read piece is an article that suggested the no-platforming of Germaine Greer shows that identity politics has become a cult.

Corbyn's early political victories

"It is necessary for me to establish a winner image. Therefore, I have to beat somebody."  -Richard M. Nixon

Today we bring you a piece which looks at Jeremy Corbyn's early victories. While he is yet to enjoy a bounce in the polls he has had some political wins that are often overlooked.

Elsewhere, we report on the ongoing protest at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) over the suspension of a union member. Yesterday the university was forced to close after hundreds of people protested outside.

And we have a piece looking at the scary amount of waste produced over the Halloween weekend.

Could the government have done more to help the people of Redcar?

"People like me who grew up in a working-class town, who don't have a college education, you don't usually hear from us." - Michael Moore

Today we bring you a report on the impact of the steel crisis on the people of Redcar. They talk of feeling abandoned by the government and say it should have done more to protect jobs.

Elsewhere, we look at comments made by Nigel Farage today about foreign HIV patients. We ask if there is any truth in his claim that the UK is losing up to £2 billion a year to health tourism.

We have a piece by the chief executive of The Carbon Trust who says that Britain is falling behind on low-carbon technology.

And if you missed our verdict on yesterday's PMQs, you can catch up with it here.

HMRC's tax credits compliance methods take no account of effect on vulnerable claimants, say MPs

Campaigners for tax credit claimants on low incomes have welcomed a report by an influential committee of MPs which has found that HMRC's method of tackling error and fraud in tax credits is a 'blunt instrument approach to enforcement that does not properly take into account the human impact of its response, particularly on vulnerable claimants.'
