Freudian slips Ed Miliband almost came a cropper last night after narrowly avoiding falling on his face during his exit of the stage after the BBC Question Time debate. These things happen to everyone of course, but he moment was significant because it seemed to confirm the impression many voters have of him as awkward and clumsy. But it was David Cameron who perhaps had an even more revealing slip-up this morning, telling voters that this is "a career defining (err) country defining election". Cameron's critics have long accused him of being more interested in his own career prospects than the future of the country. Today's slip-up only seemed to confirm those suspicions. But while Cameron and Miliband have stumbled, Clegg's supporters are feeling pretty chipper this morning after what was a confident and engaging performance last night. The Guardian's snap poll suggested that just 19% thought the Lib Dem leader had performed best. However considering how woeful his personal and party's approval ratings are, that actually counts as something of a victory. |
