| The refugee crisis in Europe has led to so many shocking headlines and photographs that it's understandable that the reactions of some people may have been over the top. But our first piece today, while recognising the failings of Europe in tackling the crisis, warns that comparing Western governments to the Nazis is not only wrong but also diminishes the power of justified allegations of fascism. Next, we have a piece which asks why celebrities with a history or violence against women continue to be given a platform. It points to a recent event in Bristol, where the boxer Floyd Mayweather had been invited to speak about his career, as an example of how violent pasts are often ignored. This event has since been cancelled but this piece asks why it was ever planned in the first place. And, just last year students at UCL won £100,000 in compensation after refusing to pay rent on their halls. Today we have a video which looks at why they are now on rent strike once again. |
