There was a time when the Labour candidate for mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, was happy to be pictured alongside Ken Livingstone, but lately he appears keen to distance himself from the former mayor. Our first piece today reports that Khan has now come out to quash rumours that he plans to hand a job to Livingstone if he is elected in May. We also take a closer look at all the key figures of the mayoral race and some of their policies in our video of the first hustings of the campaign. Elsewhere, we report that the outgoing prisons inspector, Nick Hardwick, has issued a parting shot at the Ministry of Justice and former justice secretary, Chris Grayling. In comments made over the weekend, Hardwick warned of overcrowding and a decline in safety in our prisons. And finally, we look at the Bafta nominated film, Sherpa, which captures a dispute between climbers and Sherpas on Everest. The film tells a story about class, race and the purpose of mountaineering. |
