Theresa May's grammar school plan is post-truth politics in action

"I want Britain to be the world's great meritocracy" - Theresa May

Today we look at Theresa May's speech on grammar schools. With evidence suggesting that selective schooling increases inequality rather than decreasing it, this piece argues that the prime minster is basing her plans on fantasy instead of facts

Brexiters often suggest that countries will be queuing up to trade with the UK after we leave the EU but if our next story is anything to go by, Australia might not be one of them. This piece reports on comments made by Australia's trade minister yesterday, in which he said his country's relationship with the UK was one of 'yesteryear'.

And, we hear from the feminist activist group Sisters Uncut about new statistics which show a rise in cases of violence against women. They highlight the fact that 25 women in London have been murdered as a result of domestic violence in one year alone, and argue that government cuts are making it harder for victims to escape.
