Councils to be allowed to opt out of child protection laws

Today we lead with a piece from the human rights organisation Liberty. They highlight how the government's new Children and Social Work Bill will allow councils to opt out of child protection laws. The changes will affect more than eight decades of legislation, some of which was created in response to cases like that of Victoria Climbie and Baby P.

Now Liberty and 39 other organisations have come together to call on the government to rethink the "dangerous" plans.
