Homeless discrimination

Our first piece today looks at how local authorities are coping with the surge in homelessness across the UK. A new report by MPs released today, reveals that many local authorities are failing to protect many of the vulnerable people who now end up homeless. Benefit cuts and a shortage of social housing means that for many homeless people judged to be "low priority" there is often little or no help available.

Today we also carry a piece detailing the lengths which prison authorities go to obscure the scale the crisis inside Britain's overcrowded prisons, particularly within privatised institutions.
