Files on Australia's offshore detention centre on the Pacific island of Nauru, which were released by the Guardian today, paint a picture of abuse, child sexual assault and abject moral horror. Our first piece today suggests that this is what happens when vulnerable people are put out of sight and out of mind. It points to the unaccompanied children in Calais who are trying to join family members in the UK as an example of how it's not just Australia that brushes immigrants under the carpet.

Next, we look at the a new report by the IFS which finds that claims that the UK could access the single market instead of full membership are "virtually meaningless". The report also rejected the idea that Britain would able to secure a deal in which it retains membership of the single market while being able to impose limits on European immigration.
