Home Office ordered to release information on pregnant women in detention

You may remember our report from last month about attempts by campaigners to obtain information from the government about pregnant women being held in detention. Well, after the Home Office repeatedly refused to release the data we today lead with the news that the information commissioner has now ordered them to do so.

And from the Home Office on to the Ministry of Justice. After a damning BBC documentary on the treatment of children at Medway prison, the MoJ has now taken over the running of it from G4S. But our next piece suggests that a recent job ad shows that the government is far from committed to investing time and money to help the young people there.

Finally, we've all become used to hearing about people relying on foodbanks to get by. But how much do we really understand about the complex reasons why they find themselves in such a desperation situation? This piece argues that the government has turned its back on some of the most vulnerable people in society and that until their voices are heard nothing will change.
