There's been a lot of talk over the last few days about whether or not it was right for Andrew Marr to interview Marine Le Pen. Our first piece today suggests that while it was right for the interview to happen, Le Pen was given a far too easy ride. It argues that the media must start describing the far-right for what they really are. Next, we have a piece which looks at the idea that Donald Trump will become a more moderate and centre-ground president than many had feared. It argues that if you look at the statements he's made in recent days and the appointment of Steve Bannon as his chief strategist in the White House, it's clear that he is unlikely to be anything other than the nightmare he appears to be. We also hear from the British Retail Consortium who warn that the price of our weekly shop could increase if the government doesn't handle Brexit negotiations correctly. And finally, we have a piece which suggests that Theresa May must prioritise trade with Europe over Donald Trump. It argues that with almost 90% of our total global trade being linked to the EU, we should forget hypothetical trade deals and protect the ones we already have. |
