If we thought the Brexit result was a shock, it was nothing compared to Donald Trump's victory. Few predicted the outcome but our first piece today suggests that it must now act as a wake up call for the left. It argues that the result is not just a defeat for Hilary Clinton and the Democrats, but one for the entire progressive movement across the world. After all the offence he has caused during the election campaign, Trump today called for unity. But after so much hatred and anger is that even possible? Our next piece today suggests that he has let the sexist genie out of the bottle, and that his victory shows just how many men hate women. Next, we have a piece suggests that while it's OK to despair for a while, after that we must pick up the pieces politically and demonstrate the falsity of what Trump says about humanity in our actions. Elsewhere, we report on today's Supreme Court judgement in the bedroom tax case. Two families have been successful in their claims that the policy is discriminatory. |
