The political attacks on the so-called 'liberal elite' are coming thick and fast at the moment. But those leading the charge are often as much part of the establishment as the people they criticise. Our first piece today suggests that the likes of Nigel Farage and Donald Trump are in no way 'men of the people' but are cynical chancers who will say anything to get what they want. Elsewhere, we have a piece which argues that cutting MP numbers will hand more power to unaccountable governments. It suggests we should stand up for the often rowdy and outspoken backbenchers, because we'd be poorer without them. |
