Depending on who you listen to the BBC is either a Tory mouthpiece or a left-wing propaganda machine. Perhaps the very fact it can be accused of both is evidence that it is neither, nevertheless there is little doubt that the organisation is under threat. Our first piece today suggests that left-wing activists who persistently attack the broadcaster seem determined to help John Whittingdale dismantle it. Regular readers of Politics.co.uk will know all about the problems with the Psychoactive Substances Act. Now, after it was shelved indefinitely at the end of March, it has been announced that the law will come into force on May 26th. Our next piece reveals how campaigners are planning to highlight just how unenforceable it is by contacting the police before consuming any substance after that date. And if you missed our analysis of Zac Goldsmith's unsuccessful and highly criticised campaign for London mayor, you can catch up with it here. |
