Throughout the London mayoral campaign the Conservatives did their best to link Sadiq Khan to extremists. Many of the attacks centred around the fact that the Labour candidate had "shared a platform" with the controversial figure Suliman Gani. Yet, today we reveal that the candidate selected by the Tories for the upcoming Tooting by-election, sought help from the very same man that the prime minster branded as an extremist.

Our next piece takes a look at the proposal in yesterday's Queen's Speech to "increase life chances for the most disadvantaged". It argues that without acknowledging the impact their own policies have had on poverty, the Conservatives will fail to improve the lives of the poorest people in society.

And, the issue of safe-spaces is always guaranteed to spark lots of debate. Today we have a review of a remarkable new book which tries to get to the heart of the contradictions of the movement.
