Pregnant women in detention centres kept hidden by the Home Office

To be picked up by immigration officers and dumped in a detention centre would be frightening for anyone but for a pregnant woman it is terrifying. It's hard to know just how many women are in this position because the Home Office will not release the data. Our first piece today reports on the fight by campaigners to have information about the women being held published and suggests that without it it's impossible to know if the government is sticking to the guidelines which state that pregnant women should only be detained in exceptional circumstances.

And, with the news that Natalie Bennett is to step down as the leader of the Greens, we hear from a former spokesperson for the party about the direction the new leadership should take. He suggests that despite Bennett's achievements the party got into a bit of a mess at the general election and now needs a leader who can convince the public that they are a credible choice.
