In recent months, the Conservatives have rowed back or U-turned on a long line of issues including tax credits, child refugees, and forced academisation, so we thought today's Queen's Speech would be the perfect opportunity to look back at the government's performance over the last year. Our first piece today suggests that the problems the Tories have faced are of their own doing and that the only thing making them look adequate is that the opposition is even worse.

Our live blog details all the key things you need to know about the speech and we will be bringing you further analysis later in the day.

Elsewhere, it's hardly surprising that the Leave campaign have put immigration at the centre of their argument for Brexit. But would leaving the EU really reduce the number of people coming to the UK? Our next piece suggests it may not and points out that the issue is far more complex than many realise.
