Labour's fiscal charter U-Turn

"Petty infighting and political agendas, arrogance and sheer bloody-mindedness almost guarantees the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing." - Jasper Fforde

This morning we look at Labour's position on George Osborne's fiscal charter. John McDonnell's decision first to back the charter but with concessions and then to oppose it has upset both his supporters and opponents within the party. Last night during a meeting of the parliamentary Labour party, social media was awash with stories of MPs shouting at the shadow chancellor as he announced the U-Turn and reports that Ben Bradshaw stormed out of the meeting calling the situation a "fucking shambles."

Elsewhere, we hear from the policy officer for Liberty who takes a detailed look at the government's immigration bill and warns that it could damage race relations in the UK.

And we also examine plans within the immigration bill to slash support for failed asylum seekers. We look at the impact this could have not only on the vulnerable people it directly effects but also on local authorities.
