Today we look at a report by the children's commissioner that reveals the full effect of the income requirement for non-EU citizens wanting to join their husband or wife in the UK. It found children traumatised by being separated from a parent and an increased reliance on benefits. The report is a damning assessment of what our immigration law has done to families. We also carry a response to the open letter from faith leaders which urged MPs to reject the Assisted Dying Bill. Keith Porteous Wood, the chief executive of the National Secular Society writes that the religious leaders' opposition to the Bill shows them to be much less morally progressive than their flocks. And we have a piece by the feminist and sexual liberty campaigner Jane Fae. She asks if the women and equalities committee inquiry into equality for trans people is a sign that Westminster is finally taking trans issues seriously. |
