Meet the man who made Ireland fall in love with drug reforms

This morning we carry a piece about the Irish politician who could be the catalyst for drug reform in one of Europe's most conservative countries. Aodhan O'Riordain wants to decriminalise the use of hard and soft drugs and focus instead on better addiction services. And after a summer spent engaging in public debate he has been surprised by how little opposition he has faced. So, could Ireland be about to lead the way on drug laws?

Elsewhere, we have our reaction to Cameron's Syrian refugee announcement. Although the government's shift in policy is welcomed, we question if taking just 20,000 refugees over the course of this parliament is really doing enough to help. And we examine the claims made by Paddy Ashdown that Syrian children brought to the UK under the programme will be deported when they turn 18.

Finally, we report on the Tory MP who has urged David Cameron to ignore the "emotional craving" to be seen as wanting to help people fleeing Syria.
