Cameron must turn his words on refugees into action

"While every refugee's story is different and their anguish personal, they all share a common thread of uncommon courage." - Antonio Guterres

This morning we carry an open letter to the Prime Minister from Stephen Hale, the chief executive of Refugee Action. In a follow up to his letter published by Politics.co.uk last week, Hale says that with the national mood on refugees now shifting, the time is right for the government to also change tack and put compassion at the heart of its approach to the crisis.

We also report on comments made by Nigel Farage today on the subject of accepting refugees from Muslim countries. Farage said that Europe could not afford to show these people compassion because some of them may be terrorists. This comes after he made similar remarks earlier this year saying he was willing to take a small number of refugees from Syria but only if they were Christians.
