| | Today the Howard League writes for us about the impact of mandatory court charges. The new fees which were the parting shot of former justice secretary Chris Grayling have seen a mother who stole three bottles of milk and a woman found begging in a car park ordered to pay out. But it would appear the charges are also having unintended consequences for some victims of crime. We also examine attempts to link Labour leadership front-runner Jeremy Corbyn to figures with anti-Semitic beliefs. The response by Corbyn and his supporters has so far failed to deal with the problem. We argue that if he fails to seriously tackle the issue now, then it could finish him in the eyes of the British public. We also look at today's Public Health England report on vaping which shows that e-cigarette use is much less harmful than smoking cigarettes. But with so much misinformation out there, the technology which appears capable of saving millions of lives, risks being dismissed by many people. Elsewhere, we hear from the Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) who warn that bombing Syria would be playing right into the hands of Isis. They look at the impact of selling arms to the region and point to the recent bombing of Iraq as evidence that more bombs are not the answer. | | Latest Articles On Aug 19, 2015 12:44 pm Labour leadership hopeful has failed to quash allegations of links to anti-Semites Read more... » On Aug 19, 2015 12:43 pm The perception that vaping is as dangerous as smoking cigarettes could be devastating Read more... » On Aug 19, 2015 09:33 am The drum-beat of war in Syria grows louder by the day – but MPs must hold firm against another bombing campaign Read more... » On Aug 19, 2015 08:33 am The impact of new mandatory court charges Read more... » Opinion Former videos On Aug 05, 2015 04:47 pm Go-Ahead Group's approach to a sustainable public transport network, which is vital to the economic development of the UK.
