charity has warned that plans to cut support for families denied asylum in the UK will put children at risk of being made hungry or homeless. The proposals could see up to 2,900 families destitute when the £36.95 allowance they receive each week is stopped. The government believes removing financial support to failed asylum seekers will encourage them to leave the country.

Elsewhere, we look at the £150 court costs being imposed on people to encourage them to plead guilty. The new charges mean homeless people could soon be chased for fines they are unlikely to be able to pay.
