We hear from Labour MP Sharon Hodgson on why she is backing Yvette Cooper for Labour leader. Writing for Politics.co.uk the shadow minister says she would like to see a woman as the next leader of the party and that Cooper has the ideas and energy to change society. But some of her comments risk reigniting a row between Cooper and leadership rival Liz Kendall after she suggested the shadow home secretary would be a "more valuable" leader as a mother. This is after another Cooper support claimed that as "a working mum" Cooper understood the pressures of family life better than her rivals -a comment which was seen as a jibe at Liz Kendall who does not have children. | |
