As you may have noticed, we've been experiencing a few technical problems over the last 24 hours so apologies for the absence of the newsletter yesterday. It's all sorted now though, so you'll be pleased to hear that normal service will resume.

First up today, we have a piece which looks at an interesting phenomenon in the academic study of political crises which could indicate that Brexit Britain will turn to Theresa May. In a time of crisis, electorates will apparently look for a strong leader and they prefer those leaders to be women.

And, this week's Chilcot report will serve as a warning against any future poorly thought out military engagement. But our next item suggests it could also have a more negative impact. There's a chance that it could paralyse us from acting when people really do need help. This piece argues that the lesson from Iraq should be that we think more carefully about acting - not that we should never act at all.
