Labour pains The row over abuse and bullying within Labour continued today after the party's most senior official announced that all those engaging in abusive or intimidatory behaviour either online or in the real world, will be banned from taking part in the Labour leadership election. If followed through it could result in hundreds or possibly thousands of people being barred and be an administrative nightmare for the party. It will also inevitably result in yet more conspiracy theories about attempts to 'stitch-up' the result of the leadership election. Despite the calls for calm and respect, the rows between Corbyn supporters and his opponents look set to continue. Key Corbyn ally and former MP Chris Williamson today writes for Politics.co.uk about the "undemocratic" attempts by his "petulant" former colleagues in the PLP to oust the Labour leader. With Corbyn on course for re-election, Williamson believes Corbynsceptic Labour MPs should either get on board or leave the party. |
