Sex workers should be decriminalised - but we still need to crack down on the buyers

"Prostitution reinforces all the old dumb clichés about women's sexuality; that they are not built to enjoy sex and are little more than walking masturbation aids" - Julie Bindell

The debate over whether or not to decriminalise sex work is always a fierce one. Those on both sides of the argument want to ensure the safety of prostitutes, they just disagree over the best way to do it. It's an issue which even divides sex workers themselves.

Today we hear from Julie Bindell on the recent interim report on prostitution from the home affairs committee. The report makes it clear that arresting those selling sex is wrong but also seems to veer towards a blanket decriminalisation of the entire industry. Bindell believes that this would be a mistake and that recent research shows just how dangerous it is to decriminalise buyers of sex.

Next up, we have the latest in our series on the impact of Brexit and today we look at green issues. This piece suggests that Theresa May's decision to scrap the Department of Energy and Climate Change sends out all the wrong messages and that the prime minister must now show her commitment to protecting the environment.
