There's been plenty of talk about the controversial international trade agreement TTIP but far less is known of its sister agreement CETA. Today we hear from the Global Justice Network on how the majority of the deal could be be legally binding long before British parliament has even examined it. Elsewhere, Tim Farron writes for politics.co.uk about why it's so important for MPs to back an amendment to the immigration bill which would see 3,000 unaccompanied child refugees already in Europe resettled in the UK. The leader of the Lib Dems argues that we will be failing to live up to our values if we turn our back on these children. And it's not just the issue of child refugees which will be debated when the bill returns to the Commons later today. The Lords have also added amendments regarding overseas domestic workers and allowing asylum seekers to gain employment. Our next piece looks at how Peers have attempted to tone down the bill and warns that if the amendments are not supported by MPs then the government's proposals will sow division in British life. |
