In recent weeks, the race for London mayor has become increasingly ugly with certain parts of the media attempting to portray Sadiq Khan as having links to extremists. One of the people used to attack the Labour candidate is his former brother-in-law Makbool Javaid. Today we have an interview with Javaid about his beliefs, his history and his relationship with Khan.

Elsewhere, we have a piece by the chief executive of Refugee Action on why he believes the UK is failing to integrate refugees. Stephen Hale argues that social cohesion will be weakened unless more is done to help those fleeing war and persecution, to contribute to society.
