Eve of battle

David Cameron is still enjoying his decisive victory in the general election. But could his celebrations be about to come to a spectacular end? Reports are growing of a significant Tory rebellion against plans to scrap the Human Rights Act. The first real glimpse of the proposals will be contained within tomorrow's Queen's speech. As things stand, the proposal to withdraw the UK from the European Court of Human Rights is proving to be the most contentious with both Tory backbenchers and the House of Lords. Cameron can ill-afford such a significant defeat at such an early stage in the parliament. Could a U-turn be in the offing?

Meanwhile the race to succeed Ed Miliband continues into another week with yet more endorsements from leading MPs. Today is the turn of insurgent candidate Liz Kendall to reveal another set of distinctly Blairite supporters. While confirming her as a serious contender in the race, has Kendall now gone too far in pigeon-holing herself as the candidate of the right?

Elsewhere we take a look at the Bahar Mustafa case and what it says about the rise of identity politics on the left and examine the growing debate about what it means for sex workers to 'consent'.
