A threat to British values - Politics.co.uk

British values

David Cameron's comments today that Britain must stop being a "passively tolerant" country, bring into stark relief what a Conservative government will look like now the Tories are free of the restraining influence of their Liberal Democrat partners. The anti-extremism measures outlined today by Cameron and his home secretary are both worryingly vague and scarily far-reaching. The exact details of the proposals remain unclear. However, Cameron, who opposed some of the last Labour government's more authoritarian measures appears to have lost many of the liberal instincts he once exhibited.

Elsewhere, Labour continue their search for a new leader with Chuka Umunna the latest to declare his intention to stand. Umunna is an impressive media performer who has a large degree of support within the party. But what do we really know about the man behind the polished facade?
