Labour's choice is only between differing shades of Blairite - Politics.co.uk

A race to the right

For all the talk of a great ideological battle going on in the Labour party, the current contenders to become party leader all come from a remarkably similar Blairite political background. Although today's papers focus on the trade unions potentially pushing the party away from the centre, in reality none of the contenders can reasonably described as representing the Labour left. Even Andy Burnham, who has already been backed by Unite general secretary Len McCluskey is promising a push rightwards on issues including the EU, taxation and immigration.  Whoever wins is likely to push the party significantly to the right of where it now stands. If this is a race for the future of the Labour party, it is a race the Blairites have already won.
