SNP, Plaid and Greens join forces to condemn Tories 'toxic' conference

Most of the headline-grabbing announcements made by the Conservatives over the last few days have centred around immigration. Now, the SNP, Greens and Plaid Cymru have come together, in a highly unusual move, to condemn what they describe as the party's 'toxic' politics.

Our next piece argues that under Theresa May, the Tories have drifted further to the authoritarian nativist right than at any point since Margaret Thatcher, and suggests that the party seems to have adopted Ukip's entire political mission.

Next we have an article which argues that it's not companies who employ foreign workers that should be 'named and shamed' but those who fuel our anti-immigrant politics. It suggests that pockets of prejudice are no longer confined to isolated areas of the UK, but are now implicitly endorsed at the very top of government.

Elsewhere, we have a piece which suggests that the government's plans to opt out of the European Convention of Human Rights during future wars shows that they do not understand that they would also be taking rights away from soldiers themselves.

And, we hear from the chief executive of Refugee Action who is calling on Britain to rescue the children of the Calais Jungle before it's demolished.
