The bedroom tax battle reaches the Supreme Court

"We have a responsibility as a state to protect our most vulnerable citizens: our children, seniors, people with disabilities. That is our moral obligation." - John Lynch

Today we speak to a couple who have taken their fight with the DWP, over the bedroom tax, all the way to the Supreme Court. Jayson Carmichael, whose wife is disabled, says the lengthy legal battle has taken its toll on their health and pleads with Iain Duncan Smith to reconsider the policy. Judges will decide if the tax, which is also known as the removal of the spare room subsidy, discriminates against disabled people.

Criticisms of the Home Office's draft investigatory powers bill have been vast but Theresa May insisted the government was determined to get it right and would consider the concerns raised by three committees of MPs. Yesterday, the revised bill was published and our first piece today suggests it's even worse than before. The human rights organisation Liberty, argues that the government is putting our security at risk by rushing the bill through.
