Has Osborne just cost Zac Goldsmith the London mayoral election

Supporters of the Conservative candidate for mayor of London were expecting a boost from this week's budget but things don't appear to have gone quite as planned. Our first piece today suggests that despite announcements about funding for Crossrail 2 and business rate devolution, the chancellor's latest budget could have done more harm than good for Zac Goldsmith's campaign.

And as the current mayor's time at City Hall draws to an end the Green Party London Assembly member Darren Johnson, writes for Politics.co.uk about how Boris Johnson has broken his promises to tackle the capital's housing crisis. In fact, the problem has actually got worse, not better, since he was elected eight years ago.
