For years Boris Johnson has managed to escape proper scrutiny. The press have been far more likely to use photos of him hanging from a zipwire than they have been to examine his record as London mayor. But our first piece today suggests his decision to back the campaign to leave Europe has changed all that. Over the last few days, Boris has been given a much tougher time than he is used to from the media, how he now deals with that may well decide his future. It's also been a bad day for the Tory candidate hoping to succeed Boris as mayor, Zac Goldsmith. We report that a new poll published today suggests his Labour rival Sadiq Khan is on course for a landslide victory. Elsewhere, on this International Women's Day, we hear from an anonymous wife about what life is like in an abusive relationship. This piece highlights the importance of domestic violence charities and explains why it is essential that they are protected from local authority cuts. And finally, we report on plans by the Lib Dems for a regulated cannabis market which use a relatively conservative approach to try to alleviate concerns from critics. |
