Liberty, equality, and fraternity have long been the cornerstones of French society but the terror attacks the country suffered this year seemed designed to challenge these very values. One year on from the Charlie Hebdo attacks, we have a piece which looks at the impact of the shocking events, and examines the response from the government. It finds that French liberty is now more at risk from the state than it is from terrorists. Elsewhere, we report on a new poll which shows that Labour's Sadiq Khan is on course for a landslide victory over his Conservative rival Zac Goldsmith, in the London mayoral race. But does Khan really have it in the bag? Some are not quite so sure. |
