Is it time to partition Syria and Iraq?

Today we have a piece which looks at how Iraq and Syria have become fragmented along largely ethno-religous lines and asks if it is time to make them permanent. It suggests that formalising the segregation which already exists in both states is the only possible basis for peace.

Elsewhere, we hear from the Liberal Democrat work and pensions spokesperson who says government welfare cuts will make it harder for people to return to work.
