Thirty years ago today, a large group of travellers were attacked by police on their way to a festival in Stonehenge. Women and children were assaulted in a bloody and violent event which has now been all-but-forgotten by the mainstream of British society. In a hard-hitting investigation, we talk to the Earl of Cardigan, a self-confessed "card-carrying Tory" on the sights he saw that day and the violence he observed being inflicted by police on people with no means of defence. We also feature a report on the Manchester based movement against homelessness, which is sparking a new nationwide campaign to help those pushed onto the streets by benefit cuts. Elsewhere, we investigate whether Liz Kendall's call for white working class kids in the north to be prioritised in educational initiatives is racist and take a peek at some of the products in your home which could be banned by the psychoactive substances bill. | |
