Farage's mask slips

"All the world loves a good loser." -Kin Hubbard

It's fair to say that Nigel Farage didn't take the Oldham by-election result all that well. Our first piece today looks at his reaction and suggests that when things get tough for the Ukip leader his mask slips to expose his true face.

Elsewhere, the Transport for London bill which is currently going through parliament includes provisions for it to set-up limited liability partnerships with developers. Our next piece today examines what impact this could have on the London housing crisis.

Live coverage of the Syria debate

"War should be the politics of last resort. And when we go to war, we should have a purpose that our people understand and support." - Colin Powell
View this email in your browser

There is only one subject anybody is talking about today and that is, of course, the vote on Syria. As this piece from last week shows, there is perhaps no easy or right decision when it comes to this issue.

Whichever way the vote goes there will be political damage. Will enough MPs be convinced by the arguments against war for Cameron to suffer an embarrassing defeat? Or will Labour overwhelmingly vote with the prime minister and risk undermining Corbyn's leadership?

We will bring you updates throughout the afternoon with our live blog, which you can follow here.

Is this the beginning of the end for Corbyn?

"The way politics divides the world is into friends and enemies." - Francis Parker Yockey
View this email in your browser

There is every chance Britain could be dropping bombs over Syria before the week is out, yet it's the goings on within the Labour party that are grabbing all the headlines.

Our first piece this morning reports from Labour's 'lively' PLP meeting last night and suggests Jeremy Corbyn's shambolic handling of his party's position over Syria could mark the beginning of the end of his leadership.

Our second piece looks at the reasons why David Cameron is so keen to intervene in Syria. It suggests that it has more to do with his need to prove himself to our international allies than it does with believing he can defeat Isis.
