It suggests that there is a growing tendency to banish any views that fall outside the accepted mantra. Elsewhere, Caroline Lucas writes about why she believes we should be rallying behind the junior doctors in their dispute with the health secretary over changes to their contracts. We also have a piece written by the Liberal Democrat peer Baroness Hamwee. She discusses government cuts to asylum support and suggests that Labour sat on their hands as the Lib Dems tried to oppose the cuts in the House of Lords. Do changes to voter registration undermine our democracy?

"In its truest sense, a democracy is a community in which all members have an equal say in the running of that community." - Robert Alan Silverstein View this email in your browser This morning we look at the government's response to last night's House of Lords vote on cuts to tax credits. Downing Street was very quick to announce a review of the chamber's powers but would this make parliament less accountable than it is now? We also have a piece on changes to voter registration. Has Tory secrecy on tax credits come back to haunt them?

It suggests that if the government had been honest about the cuts in the first place, the Lords would be powerless to stop them now. Elsewhere, the journalist and campaigner Jane Fae writes about Britain's energy deal with China. She says the government has signed up to decades of expensive nuclear power at a time when solar power is beginning to break through in other European countries.
