Perhaps the very fact it can be accused of both is evidence that it is neither, nevertheless there is little doubt that the organisation is under threat. Our first piece today suggests that left-wing activists who persistently attack the broadcaster seem determined to help John Whittingdale dismantle it. Regular readers of Politics.co.uk will know all about the problems with the Psychoactive Substances Act. Now, after it was shelved indefinitely at the end of March, it has been announced that the law will come into force on May 26th. Our next piece reveals how campaigners are planning to highlight just how unenforceable it is by contacting the police before consuming any substance after that date. Local elections: Zombie result is worst possible outcome for Labour

"Unless you are addressing the issues people are concerned about and contributing positive direction, they'll never support you" - Assata Shakur View this email in your browser All the talk of this week's elections being make or break time for Jeremy Corbyn, turned out to be a bit of an anti-climax. But of all the possible outcomes for the Labour party our first piece today suggests this is the worst. There is nothing from the results to suggest Corbyn has what it takes to win a general election but he has done just enough to stay put as leader. So, in England not a lot has changed. In Scotland, Labour has slipped into third place behind the Tories. And the big story in Wales is that Ukip has won its first ever seats in the Welsh Assembly, with former Tory MPs Mark Reckless and Neil Hamilton among those elected. Our next piece suggests that the fact Ukip has chosen two such out-of-date politicians to stand in these elections shows that it is a party stuck in the past.
