| At the core of most arguments for or against the decriminalisation of sex work, is the desire to protect vulnerable women. Yet, all too often, those on both sides resort to accusations about their opponents putting prostitutes at risk. This was evident from the backlash against Jeremy Corbyn for daring to air his views on the issue recently. Our first piece today argues that those attacking the Labour leader for betraying women, are doing nothing to protect sex workers. They just ignoring them.
Elsewhere, we look at the ban on satirising parliament. With all the bad jokes and insults thrown at each other in the Commons, you would think our MPs would be resilient enough to handle a little parody. This piece looks at some of the great satirical shows in the US which, in many cases, tackle the big political issues as well as any news programme, and asks why our politicians are so afraid of the same here. |
